Inchant's Recommendations for a Great Fitting Bra Our goal is to have happy customers with great fitting bras. Which is why we will always make a custom bra if the guidelines below do not work. To quote Nonie, “and to ensure Inchant.com is truly catering to every woman, we will custom make a Sensuence™ bra designed for specific needs. Even a bra with two different cup sizes!” Our size chart recommendations never supersede seeing a professional foundations fitter (corsetiere). We always recommend you see a corsetiere to insure you are getting exactly what you need in a bra. Because over 70% of women are unsatisfied with their experience in buying bras, we want you to have your measurements taken accurately. Bra sizes do differ by style and this should be taken into consideration. Remember that we will gladly allow you to return your bras if they do not fit properly. Be assured that we will pick them up free! Measurements Band Begin by measuring directly under your bust. With your bra on, take a measurement around your chest and under your arms. This is commonly referred to as your “Band” measurement. This measurement should always be an even number. That is, if your band measurement falls between an even number you round your size up or down based on whether you typically prefer a snug or loose fit. For example, if your actual band measurement is 43”, you can round this up to 44” or down to 42”. NOTE: If you round your size down, you should increase your cup size by one size (see Sue’s example, below). If, you fall between numbers (e.g., 36 ½”) we suggest that the band be rounded down if it is less than ½” and rounded up if it is ½” or larger. So, 37 ½” is rounded up to 38” and 34 3/8 is rounded down to 34”. Bustline Next, complete your measurements by measuring the fullest part of your bust. This is the “bustline”. The difference in inches between the band measurement and the bustline measurement indicates your cup size. We have provided a chart and two personal examples of this below:
Bra Size Chart
Style Recommendations Back Closure Round your original band measurement and add 2 or 3 inches to obtain an even number. This is your band size for a back closure bra. Please remember, as your band size increases by one, your cup size decreases by one. For more detailed information and size suggestions, please visit www.plussizebras.org. If you have any questions or we can be of assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to call our customer service department @ 1-877-846-2468. Example one – Mary: Mary has a band measurement of 28 ¼” and a bustline measurement of 35”. As, her band measurement is less than ½”, she would round it down to 28. Her bustline being 6 ¾” larger than her band would put here in a G cup. As a result, she wears a 28G. Example two – Sue: Sue has a band measurement of 44 ¾” and a bustline measurement of 56”. Her band measurement would be rounded up to 45”. As this is not an even number, she could round down to 44” for a snug fit or up to 46” for a looser fit. As, her bustline measurement is 10 ¼” larger than her actual band size she would be a J cup. Thus, wearing a 46J. If Sue decided to round her band size down to 44”, she would need to go up one cup size. Her size would then be a 44K. Back to "Band" Measuring the Waist Measure around the narrowest portion of waist. Measuring the Hips Measure around the fullest part of hips. |
